2. NEW CJC-RD MEMBERSHIP (OA 28)
Presented by Chair PELLEBON. OA 28 passed the County Board and budget process.
The next step is to add two people with lived experience of criminal justice involvement to
the subcommittee. The process of inviting people to apply is still being finalized.
3. OFFICE OF JUSTICE REFORM AND EQUITY (OJRE)
Presented by PETERSON THURLOW. Discussion of new positions and funding in the
OJRE. Several positions are transferred from the existing classification, and new
positions are also being created. Discussion of roles related to the community justice
center.
4. DISCRETIONARY FUNDS ALLOCATED TO COUNTY BOARD FOR OJRE
(PELLEBON)
Review of existing CJC reports and recommendations. Discussion of feasibility and
impact of different initiatives to which they could allocate discretionary funds. Review of
recommendations regarding weekend initial appearance, crisis care continuum, CRC age
restrictions, mental health data, and community court. Discussion of challenges in
funding these initiatives. At future meetings, stakeholders who are experts on these
initiatives should present at CJC-RD, including Police Chief’s association, Sheriff,
Journey Mental Health Center, and DHS.

E. Reports to Committee
1. COMMUNITY RESTORATIVE COURT UPDATE (STAFF)
The CRC is working on creating a victim resource brochure in collaboration with UW Law
School. There is an upcoming peacemaker training in February 2023 focused on BIPOC
community members. Data entry/cleaning of previous records is underway to enable
additional analysis.
