5.20.2022 Minutes Food Council RAF

A motion was made by TESCH, seconded by FEY, that the Minutes be approved.  
The motion carried by a voice vote 2-0.

Business reports  
• Local market development  
- Vegetable Processing Facility final report will be available in July (REAP partnering with  
Food Finance Institute).  
- Terminal Market - upcoming conversation.  
- Wholesale Readiness website launching soon. Will have online webinars about how to  
use it. Can present about this at next RAFS meeting (July 15).  
• Land for cultivation  
- Raemisch property. Groundswell proposing to purchase western 40 acres from Green  
Street (instead of 10-15). Poses a challenge for roads planned. A precedent for giving  
variance to planned roads - Madison Area Community Land Trust navigated this for Troy  
Gardens (~99-00) - Marcia can pull the info on this.  
City ag leases  
No updates.  
Farmland Preservation  
Members discussed the Dane County Farmland Preservation Plan presentation from the  
6.22.22 Dane County Food Council-Madison Food Policy Council meeting. Members  
brainstormed the RAFS WG role in this plan development – to be discussed more at the  
next meeting.
