B. Consideration of Minutes
MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 21, 2024
A motion was made by BENEDICT, seconded by BENSON, that the Minutes be
approved. The motion carried by a voice vote (7-0).
C. Action Items
None.
D. Presentations
E. Discussion Items
None.
1. Voter Registration/Education
The Youth Commission plans to connect schools with the League of Women Voters so
they can choose what kind of event/support they want. Once the Dane County Youth
Assessment data is available, the body will ascertain if anything stands out on social
activism, and perhaps write a letter to the editor encouraging youth to vote.
2. Homelessness Presentation Follow-Up
The Youth Commission will include a mention of the Youth Homlessness presentation it
received during its upcoming presentation to the Health & Human Needs Committee. The
focus will be on those in the 18-24 age group, a population that needs special attention.
3. Dane County Youth Assessment Results Dissemination
Commission members are intent on distributing the Dane County Youth Assessment
results more broadly to the community this year. Holding another Youth Summit is a
possibility but is perhaps not realistic. Another option would be assembling a DCYA
panel for the annual Madison365 Youth Summit.
The hope is to tap students to design infographics and make some noise on social
media. More discussion is needed to identify specific strategies for doing so.
F. Reports to Committee
None.
G. Future Meeting Items and Dates
Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in Room 351 of the City County Building and via Zoom.
The May meeting will include an update on the membership roster and the timing of a
vote for Chair.
H. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda
None.
I. Such Other Business as Allowed by Law
None.
J. Adjournment
A motion was made by BENSON, seconded by BENEDICT, that the Meeting be
adjourned. The motion carried by a voice vote (7-0) and the meeting was
adjourned at 7:01 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Megan Meinen pending Commission approval.
