E. Items Requiring Committee Action
F. Presentations
G. Reports to Committee
1. PFAS Remediation Responsibilities
Steve Books spoke regarding his goal to see an increased commitment from public
agencies for testing of both public and private drinking water and for the dissemination of
information to the public.
Michael Farin passed on speaking at the meeting and opted to wait for future meetings.
Chair Chawla drew the committee's attention to pending litigation regarding the
EPAs authority to enforce cleanup. EPA says that Tucson's drinking water is
contaminated with PFAS and US Air Force claims that EPA lacks authority to
order the cleanup based on the supreme court's Chevron ruling. Chawla noted
that airport officials from the Dane County Regional Airport and from former
County Executive Parisi's administration repeatedly assured the Dane County
Board that the cleanup at the Dane County Regional Airport is a top priority for
the Air National Guard and questioned how that might change in light of the
pending Tucson case.
