The Wednesday, May 17, 2023 Youth Commission meeting will be conducted in hybrid fashion. Members  
of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at the City County Building in Room 351.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

A. Call To Order

B. Consideration of Minutes  
MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 15, 2023  
A motion was made by MCGINNITY, seconded by BENSON, that the Minutes be  
approved. The motion carried by a voice vote 3-0.  
C. Action Items  
1. Approval of Funding for By Youth For Youth Grants  
A motion was made by MGGINNITY, seconded by BENSON, that the Action  
Item be approved. The motion carried by a voice vote 3-0.  
D. Presentations  
1. Girls on the Run (Christine Benedict, Executive Director at Girls on the Run of South  
Central Wisconsin)  
Benedict presented on the after-school empowerment program that provides life skills to  
individuals in the third through eighth grades via an evidenced-based curriculum  
celebrating the joy of movement.  
E. Discussion Items  
1. 2024 Dane County Youth Assessment  
The Commission is in the process of updating the survey instrument. The final version  
will be unveiled in September.  
2. Commission Priorities and Next Steps  
The Commission would like more frequent check-ins with the By Youth For Youth  
Committee and to provide follow-up with grants.  
Other priorities include Housing/Homelessness/Safety and a desire to align with school  
wellness plans. For the Madison schools the focus is on mental health, school nutrition,  
school safety and staff wellbeing.  
3. Hybrid Meeting Rules  
County Board Office rules have changed and now any member of the Commission can  
serve as the in-person representative during hybrid meetings at the City County Building.  
Previously, the chair was required to attend in person.  
F. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
Next meeting: Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the City County Building and  
via Zoom.

McGinnity departed at 6:59 p.m. resulting in a loss of quorum and the meeting
