B. Consideration of Minutes  
MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 18, 2023  
A motion was made by BENSON, seconded by BENEDICT, that the Minutes be  
approved. The motion carried by a voice vote (9-0).  
C. Presentations  
1. By Youth For Youth (Taylor Seale)  
BYFY funding recommendations were presented to the Youth Commission. Funding has  
been constant for 30 years, but the number of requests continues to rise.  
D. Action Items  
1. Approval of Funding for For Youth By Youth Grants  
A motion was made by BENEDICT, seconded by MCGINNITY, to approve  
funding for For Youth By Youth grants. The motion carried by a voice vote  
(9-0).

E. Discussion Items  
1. Voter Registration Events Follow-Up (Madison College - Christine; Sun Prairie -  
Sreeja; Edgewood - Emily; MMSD - Ashley)  
Edgewood College’s voting efforts focus on absentee voting, in-person on-campus voting,  
and transportation to the polls. There were no further updates and this item will appear on  
the agenda for the April meeting.  
2. Change in March Meeting for By Youth For Youth Presentation  
In lieu of the scheduled Youth Commission meeting on March 20th, the Commission  
members will be joining the By Youth For Youth presentation on March 18th at 6 p.m.  
3. Dane County Youth Assessment  
The DCYA is currently being administered across Dane County. Students continue to  
address concerns about confidentiality and the importance of this survey. The  
Commission needs to continue to explore how to address these concerns, which arise  
during each survey year.  
Suggestions were made to expand mental health questions to include questions on 504  
plans in schools and ADHD diagnoses. A suggestion also was made to expand  
after-school activity questions to include questions about access to ACT prep and  
college readiness.  
4. Homelessness Presentation (Time Permitting)  
Time did not permit.  
5. DCYA Results Dissemination (Time Permitting)  
Time did not permit.

Next meeting: Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at the City County Building and
