A. Call To Order
The meeting was called to order at 9 am. Commissioners Paulson, Willett, and
McDonell were present.
B. Consideration of Minutes
February 23, 2026 Board of Canvass Minutes
A motion was made by WILLETT, second by Paulson that the Minutes be
approved . The motion carried by a voice vote. PAULSON abstained.
C. Election of Committee Chair
A motion was made by WILLETT, second by PAULSON to elect MCDONELL Chair.
Motion passed on a voice vote.
D. Conduct the Canvass of the April 7, 2026 Spring Election
1. Conduct the Canvass of the Votes Cast for the Following Offices:
The Board heard a presentation from City of Madison Clerk McComas about 23
absentee ballots that arrived at some polling locations after 8 pm. Discussion
ensued including Dave Gault from the Dane County Corporation Counsel office if
the ballots should be counted, as they were counted on election night and at the
city of Madison Municipal Board of Canvass. See attached documents.
Motion by MCDONELL, second by WILLETT to affirm the decision of the City of
Madison Municipal Board of Canvassers to count the late arriving absentee
ballots. MCDONELL, PAULSON vote aye. WILLETT votes no.
