1. Update on the Darren Marsh Parks & Lake Management Facility building renovations
Initial facility improvements focused on the site: fence removal/replacement and adding a
connection between the back parking lots of the original and new property. This winter,
Dane County Parks and Lake Management staff have focused on garage and wash bay
improvements, as well as office demolition. There are contracts in place, or coming soon,
for many office improvements.
2. Winter Recreation Update
The Winter Recreation Activity Guide provides details and maps of winter activities in the
park system, including groomed cross-country ski trails, designated snowshoe trails, ice
fishing and lake access, dog parks, sledding, snowmobiling, winter mountain biking, and
winter camping. Ice fishing is an incredibly popular winter activity. Dane County Parks
offers winter public programs like owl walks and snowshoeing. Winter restoration
workdays include brush removal and brush pile burning. Some sections of the Dane
County Snowmobile Trails were open January 23-30.
