The August 21, 2024 Youth Commission meeting will be conducted in hybrid fashion. Members of the  
public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person in Room 351 of the City County Building.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

B. Consideration of Minutes  
MINUTES FROM APRIL 17, 2024  
A motion was made be BENEDICT, seconded by VELLA, that the Minutes be  
approved. The motion carried by a voice vote 6-0.  
C. Action Items  
1. Election of Chair  
Vice Chair Riley called for nominations for Chair of the Youth Commission. Benedict  
nominated Vella. Riley called two more times for nominations and received none.  
A motion was made by TUBBS, seconded by BENEDICT, to elect Vella as  
chair. The motion carried by a voice vote 6-0.  
2. Election of Vice Chair  
Chair Vella called for nominations for Vice Chair of the Youth Commission. Benedict  
nominated Pletzer. Vella called two more times for nominations and received none.  
A motion was made by BENSON, seconded by BENEDICT, to elect Pletzer as  
Vice Chair. The motion carried by a voice vote 6-0.  
D. Discussion Items  
1. Dane County Youth Assessment Update and Interest in Dissemination Work Group  
The survey administration is complete and the overview report is near completion. Brian  
Koenig will present the results at an upcoming meeting. The Youth Commission will  
discuss identifying more ways in which it can encourage youth to be involved in the  
dissemination the results (perhaps via social media or infographics).  
2. Youth Commission Priorities for Upcoming Year  
Priorities identified included middle school mental health, a referendum for Madison  
schools this fall, learning if and how the Youth Commission can advocate for more By  
Youth For Youth funding, and a desire by this body to better understand its charge  
regarding what it can and cannot do -- especially in the advocacy space.  
Attendance Update  
Chair Vella's internet connection was lost at 6:44 p.m., resulting in the body no longer  
having quorum.  
A motion was made by HUELSEMANN, seconded by BENEDICT, to adjourn. The  
motion carried 5-0.
