D. Presentation
Due to technical issues we were not able to watch the video. Per Supervisor
Barushok, based on a similar situation that he witnessed in another County
meeting, Supervisor Wegleitner, author of the new policy that requires the
ethics training, had said it was okay to email the video link to members and
have them watch it outside the meeting and report to the staff or Chair by June
30.
A MOTION to proceed with having members watch the video outside the meeting
by June 30 was made by FRANK and seconded by REWEY. MOTION passed 7-0.
E. Project and General Updates
1 - DCTB Workforce Development Plan: RICH reviewed the plan to partner
with an existing organization already hosting a similar event. Madison College
may do this in spring 2027. Partnership got a positive response from Madison
College, but no dates have been advanced.
2 - School Tree Nursery Program (Matt): NOONE reviewed the current scope
and status of the program. There are 8 tree nurseries in schools (elementary,
middle, and high schools) with teachers and students maintaining the trees and
using them for learning about growth rates, etc. New schools include St.
Dennis and Lodi Elementary.
3 - Future Purchases: Not discussed
4 - Future Meeting Location: July 21, 3:45 pm.
F. Discussion Items
1 - County Exec Strategic Vision Plan: Are there any opportunities for the Tree
Board to be actionable in it? Johnson to forward the email from the County
Exec with information for Board members to review. Alves will give a short
presentation on any role he sees that the Tree Board could have.
2 - DCTB Future Direction? July agenda item.
3 - Tree Preservation Matters in the Village of Cross Plains: Not discussed.
4 - Other Tree Board Matters: Frank reported on homeowners who may be
having interactions with insurance companies that require them to remove
trees next to their homes based on poor information or aerial views from
Google Maps. Homeowners should know that a professional, certified arborist
can intercede with the insurance company if the tree is sound.
