The Wednesday February 28, 2024 AAA Legislative/Advocacy Committee meeting will be a hybrid  
meeting. Members of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at the ADRC building, 2865 N Sherman Ave Room 109, Madison.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

B. Consideration of Minutes  
AAA Legislative/Advocacy Committee Minutes 10.25.23  
A motion was made by SCHMIDLKOFER, seconded by LEZOTTE, that the minutes  
be approved. The motion carried by a voice vote.  
C. Action Items  
1. Advocacy Supporting Federal & State Programs  
No action taken on any items. See notes from Item D.  
D. Discussion Item  
1. Advocacy in 2024  
Long discussion with members on what items to advocate for seniors. WAAN’s top four  
items: 1-ADRC Funding, 2-Transportation, 3-HDM, and 4-Family Care. Members  
identified Housing, Voting and Transportation as top items to advocate for in 2024.  
AAA Manager Sridevi Mohan stated US Aging would release their priorities around May.  
E. Reports to Committee  
1. Wisconsin Senior Advocates  
OLSON reported the planning phase is in process for creating priorities. So far  
#1-Caregivers, #2-Voting, #3-Transportation, and #4-Housing concerns. Meeting with  
state staff in March on how do workforce issues effect on seniors.  
2. ADRC Governing Board  
OLSON was going to send email to members about what was discussed.  
3. County/State/Federal Legislative Update  
Dane County Lobbyist Carrie Springer provided the top priorities for Dane County being  
Medicaid expansion, voting, housing and transportation. Assembly is done with a lot of  
aging bills not being approved.  
4. State's Aging Advisory Council  
Group is working on helping with advocating items.  
5. Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network  
2024 Advocacy Day  
OLSON shared what date the state Aging Advocacy Day will be. Looking for 4-5 people  
to assist with directing people on where to go for seminars and activities. LEZOTTE and  
MCHONE volunteered to attend.

a. 2025-2027 AAA Aging Plan  
AAA Manager Sridevi Mohan shared that working on the plan has started. Need to form  
an Advisory group to get input from community members. MOHAN still waiting on what  
requirements the state is wanting in the plan.  
F. Report Out Items to AAA Board  
Housing and Transportation—Requesting the experts/Mangers come and speak on what  
Dane County needs are so members can determine what items to advocate for. Aging  
Plan for 2025-2027. Issues and concerns of outreach and lack of it. Community is not  
aware of services until they need it and then they are still not aware of what AAA or  
ADRC can assist with. Need to have effective involving outreach programming.

Next meeting: Wednesday March 27, 2024 at 9am via Hybrid  
See if Nathaniel Brown, Dane County Transportation Coordinator, can present at March  
meeting
