The January 14 Dane County Heritage Preservation Commission meeting will be a hybrid meeting.  
Members of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at CCB Room 357.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

IN PERSON: Any members of the public wishing to register to speak on/support/oppose an agenda item  
can register in person at the meeting using paper registration forms. IT IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO  
REGISTER VIA THE ZOOM LINK ABOVE EVEN IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING IN PERSON.  
In person registrations to provide public comment will be accepted throughout the meeting.

B. Consideration of Minutes  
MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 26 MEETING OF THE DANE COUNTY  
HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION  
Motion by Gehrig, second by Yanacheck to approve the minutes of the 11/26/2024  
meeting.  
Motion carried.  
D. Presentations  
REVIEW OF 2024 NOMINATIONS FOR DANE COUNTY HISTORICAL  
MARKER PROJECT  
The Commission reviewed the 43 nominations received to date. By consensus,  
Commissioners selected 26 sites that met the criteria for historic sites  
commemorating communities under-represented in the historical record.  
Commissioners then ranked the 26 eligible sites by historical and cultural  
significance (see revised ranking sheet attached to this item).  
Alfonso Morales left the meeting at 5:30 p.m.  
C. Action Items  
REVIEW OF HISTORICAL MARKER DESIGN, MANUFACTURE AND COSTS  
By consensus, the Commission postponed this item to the February 11, 2025  
meeting.  
SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE FOR HISTORICAL MARKER NOMINATIONS  
By consensus, the Commission set the public hearing date for February 11, 2025  
at 4:30 p.m. in Room 357 of the CCB and by Zoom. Staff will contact nominators,  
affected landowners and the general public and invite them to comment on  
nominations.

F. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
None.  
G. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda  
Heather Bailey, City of Madison Preservation Planner, spoke about her interest in  
collaborating with Dane County on historical marker projects. Staff to add  
category to ranking sheet to denote if a site is covered under another historical  
marker program.
