B. Consideration of Minutes
This resolution was approved
MEDICAL ADVISORY SUBCOMMITTEE FEBRUARY 2025 MINUTES
This resolution was approved
C. Discussion Items
Magnesium Sulfate
Discussed possibility of stocking magnesium sulfate in a larger dose. Medically there is
no difference in medication concentration, so it would be up to individual services to
make operational decision. Vending machines will continue to stock lower dose, but can
fit the larger dose if shortages necessitate it.
EMS Annual Survey - Final Feedback
2024 final results were sent out to group to get feedback on possible changes. Survey
will be sent to agencies to be completed by end of June.
EMS Protocols - Standing Item
MEP - 2026 will have a more in-depth review. Accepting feedback from everyone until
August 21st through a survey. Will use that to guide town halls that will be conducted in
September. Goal is to submit to state by December, go-live by April. UW - continuing to
work through adult and peds (70% complete). Suggestions were made to improve the
feedback request form UW has out currently.
Question about using LUCAS device for traumatic cardiac arrest. UW does not
recommend it unless it's for provider safety during transport. Dr. Spigner shares that
NAEMSP new statement did not make any mention of mechanical CPR at all. Letter to
editor said their regional trauma advisory council is putting together a statement about
mechanical CPR. Anderson has asked if having data provided that shows quick
application of LUCAS would help in making decisions. Will continue to discuss and have
on June MAS meeting.
D. Presentations
E. Reports to Committee
DCEMS - EMS Association will have vendors for protective gear come in from 8-10am
prior to meeting. UTV is available for summer events. Reserve through website. Falls
Prevention class coming up for providers to learn how to evaluate a house for fall
prevention needs.
Deer-Grove EMS - Took delivery of warming blankets that are battery powered and can
be used for infant warming and everyday patients. Taking delivery soon of Glidescopes -
proof that group purchasing can save money.
