The January 6, 2026 Safety & Working Conditions Study Committee meeting will be a hybrid meeting.  
Members of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at Land & Water Resources Parks Department, 4318 Robertson Road,  
Madison.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

IN PERSON: Any members of the public wishing to register to speak on/support/oppose an agenda item  
can register in person at the meeting using paper registration forms. IT IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO  
REGISTER VIA THE ZOOM LINK ABOVE EVEN IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING IN PERSON.  
In person registrations to provide public comment will be accepted throughout the meeting.  
VIRTUAL: Any members of the public wishing to register to speak on/support/oppose an agenda item

Chair Dudek called the meeting to order at 10:02am.

B. Consideration of Minutes  
Motion by Haanen, seconded by Cotillier to accept the minutes. Motion carried.

C. Presentations  
1. Land & Water Resources Department Safety Committee  
Adam Alves presented on the formation of the Land & Water Resources  
Safety Committee. He stated that COVID had negative effects on safety  
culture. The committee started after returning from COVID, focused on  
streamlining training, especially with high-risk positions, volunteer training  
and how to measure effectiveness.  
David Rowe spoke on data tracking, property damage to vehicles, cell  
phones and the incident reporting system (fear of discipline).  
D. Reports to Committee  
1. Safety Data Collection and Information Management  
The Committee will look for commonality of training across departments.  
E. Discussion Items  
1. Online Training Matrix  
No discussion related to the online training matrix.  
2. Workers Comp Data & FAQs  
No discussion on the workers comp data and FAQ's.  
3. Extreme Weather & Working Conditions  
Joshua Cotillier commented that DOA (Director Shelby Slaven and Assistant  
Director Nick Bubb) were in favor of DOA making the call. Timing was still in  
question ie when does Emergency Management get the call and what is the  
notification procedure.  
F. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
The next meeting will be February 3, 2026, with the location to be determined.  
Motion by Cotiller, seconded by Schwab to extend the meeting time slot to 2  
hours. Motion carried.  
Motion by Dudek, seconded by Haanen to change the meeting start time to  
10:30am.

Motion by Haanen, seconded by Cotillier to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting
