1. Collaborative Friends Grant Awards and Madison Community Foundation Friends of  
Dane County Parks Endowment Distribution Request  
Joleen Stinson presented a request for the Park Commission's approval of the 2025  
Collaborative Friends Grant awards and authorization to request a $9,043 distribution  
from the Friends of Dane County Parks Endowment at the Madison Community  
Foundation to help fund the selected projects.

1. Dane County Youth Governance Program  
Aleena Sanghvan presented an overview of the Dane County Youth Governance Program,  
highlighting its mission to engage youth in local government and civic leadership. She  
shared details about an upcoming project—Sustainability Safari—an interactive,  
youth-led event at the Henry Vilas Zoo on May 28, 2025, focused on promoting  
sustainable practices like composting, recycling, and food waste reduction through  
hands-on activities and community engagement.

2. History of Fish Lake & Lussier County Parks & Crystal Lake Wildlife Area  
Alex DeSmidt presented an overview of the history and amenities of Fish Lake County  
Park and the surrounding Dane County Parks properties, highlighting their recreational  
offerings and natural features. He also discussed the park's significance within the  
broader context of the county’s land management and conservation efforts.  
F. Reports to Committee  
1. DRAFT Parks and Open Space Plan 2025-2030: Review Input & Schedule  
Alex DeSmidt presented an update on the Dane County Park and Open Space Plan,  
including a summary of public comments received to date. He noted that the comment  
period will close at the end of the day, and next steps include making revisions based on  
the feedback and submitting the plan for adoption by the Dane County Board, which is  
expected to take place this summer.
