Chair Thoresen called the Park Commission Meeting to order at 5:30 PM.  
Staff Present: Andy Paulios, Sharene Smith, Joleen Stinson.  
Youth Governance Program Member Aleena Sanghvan excused.

B. Public Hearing for Dane County Parks Proposed 2027 Fees  
Chair Thoresen opened the public hearing on the proposed 2027 Dane County  
Parks fees. Joleen Stinson, Parks Director, provided an overview of the process  
to date regarding the proposed fee schedule. Clinton Copple spoke in opposition  
to the proposed increase in disc golf permit fees. Anissa Fellenz spoke in  
opposition to the proposed increase in dog permit fees. Chair Thoresen  
summarized the six written comments received regarding the proposed 2027  
fees. There being no further speakers, Chair Thoresen closed the public  
hearing at 5:51 PM.

C. Consideration of Minutes  
Minutes of the May 27, 2026 Park Commission  
A motion was made by BROUWER that the Minutes be approved. The motion  
carried by a voice vote 6-0.  
D. Referrals (Resolutions & Ordinance Amendments)

A motion was made by BROUWER, seconded by BOGUE, that the Resolution be  
recommended for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote 6-0.

Quarry parcel in the Black Earth Creek Natural Resource Area  
2. Conservation Fund Grant Application from The Prairie Enthusiasts for the

A motion was made by BROUWER, seconded by BOGUE, to direct staff to prepare  
grant resolutions for each project and applicant as presented, as the required  
conditions for each individual grant are satisfied. The motion carried by a voice  
vote 6-0.

Chair Thoresen reported that Nan Bouge’s term will end on July 1 and that a  
new appointment has been made. Nan has provided wonderful service over the  
past eight years. A small celebration honoring Nan will be held following the next  
meeting.  
Chair Thoresen reported that Dane County Parks will formally receive the  
donation of a Ho-Chunk dugout canoe crafted by Bill Quackenbush, soon to  
retire from his role as Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Ho-Chunk  
Nation. The canoe was made from a cottonwood tree removed in McDaniel  
Park during construction of the Lower Yahara River Trail. The present event is  
scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Heritage Center  
Solar Shelter.
