C. Presentations

1. Department of Pretrial Services-Review of Technical Assistance

Staff from the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab

presentation on its research and technical assistance offered to Dane County

Pretrial Services to ensure best practices for its supervision processes.

Overall goal is to assess how pretrial stakeholders can make data-informed

adjustments to right size the supervision case load while maintaining safety

and court appearance rates. Dane County appearance, safety, and success

rates have consistently been high. Presenter and members discussed

data-driven decisions to consider in the future.

2. Strategic Plan Review and New Steps

Staff from the Justice Management Institute (JMI) discussed stages of JMI’s

work to develop CJC strategic plan in relation to pre-arrest and pretrial

alternatives. Presenter posed possible strategies for pretrial alternatives and

asked members to provide thoughts and input. Also foreshadowed upcoming

planning sessions to continue working towards solutions.
