The Wednesday February 26, 2025 AAA Legislative/Advocacy committee meeting will be a hybrid  
meeting.  
Members of the public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at the ADRC building, 2865 N Sherman Ave Room 108, Madison.  
The public can access the meeting virtually with the Zoom application or by telephone.

AAA Legislative/Advocacy Minutes 12.4.24  
A motion was made by CASTANEDA, seconded by SCHMIDLKOFER, that the  
minutes be approved. The motion carried by a voice vote.

a. Advocacy Supporting Federal & State Programs  
Medicaid Letter to Delegates. Send to AAA Board for approval.  
Committee members discussed how to include more community associations with  
advocating support for no cuts to Medicaid. Cuts to Medicaid will hurt the most  
vulnerable population.  
Motion by SCHMIDLKOFER, seconded by CASTANEDA, to request the AAA  
Board submit a letter in support of Dane County Board Resolution 2024-332,  
Urging Congress not to cut funding for Medicaid, The Older Americans Act  
and other critical healthcare supports. Said letter of support will be sent to  
all Federal and State Delegates of Dane County, Wisconsin. Voice vote  
carried.

Angela Velasquez, DAS Division Administrator, discussed Medicaid A-Z document which  
contains programs in Dane County. Discussed how Medicaid and USDA funding cuts  
could harm older adults.  
b. 2026 Budget Process  
2026 Budget Process  
VELASQUEZ discussed the process of the 2026 Dane County Human Services budget.  
Ideas for budget requests need to be sent to VELASQUEZ and be complete for the next  
AAA Legislative/Advocacy meeting April 23, 2025. Members asked for a reminder in  
March about Budget request items.

SCHMIDLKOFER was going to check on what the group was doing.

3. County/State/Federal Legislative Update

VELASQUEZ summarized the Resolution that the Dane County Board approved February  
20, 2025 about potential cuts to Medicaid and the impact it would have on older adults in  
Dane County. Discussion followed for decision under Action Items.  
4. State's Aging Advisory Council  
BUNCK had nothing to report back on.  
5. Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network  
WAAN Report  
WI Aging Advocacy Day is May 13, 2025  
6. Chair & Staff Reports  
VELASQUEZ announced AAA Manager Sridevi Mohan had resigned effective February  
19, 2025. Job has been posted until Friday March 7, 2025. For the interim  
VELASQUEZ will be handling any manager duties as there will not be an interim manager  
assigned.  
F. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
Next meeting: Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 9am via Hybrid

H. Such Other Business as Allowed by Law  
SCHMIDLKOFER stated there have been so many changes over the years with the  
Federal government. Currently huge changes are coming down from the Federal level of  
funding. We can not sit by and let the county lose funding. We need to keep on the  
Feds about keeping our programs running.
