B. Consideration of Minutes  
[MINUTES FROM THE 03/17/2026 ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS  
COMMISSION MEETING]  
Attachments:  
A motion was made by Klehr to approve the minutes from the 3/17/2026 Arts and  
Cultural Affairs Commission meeting.  
C. 2026 Cycle One Grants Overview  
Cultural Affairs Specialist Brulla provided an overview of the 2026 Cycle 1  
grant applications, noting the ratio of requested funds to available funds.  
D. Approve Capital Grant allocation recommendations  
A motion was made by Klehr to award capital grant applications from Madison  
Opera, Madison Flute Club, Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Madison  
Area Concert Handbells, and Isthmus Dance Collective at 38% of their request  
with the exception of $550 for Madison Conservatory which totals 50% of their  
request.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice  
E. Approve Short Order Grant allocation recommendations  
In addition to $5,800 approved from the grant budget, Director Fraire noted  
that $5,700 will be allocated from another budget line to fulfill this request.  
A motion was made by Curet to approve an award of $500 to each of the 23 short  
order grant applicants.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice vote.  
F. Approve project grant mathematical formula allocations  
Curet presented the recommended award distribution for 73 eligible project  
grant applications as outlined by the grant allocation formula, totaling  
$101,400.  
A motion was made by Curet to approve the 73 project grant awards as outlined  
by the grant allocation formula.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice vote  
G. Executive Director's Report  
All commissioners are encouraged to attend the 2026 Business of Art  
Conference April 23-24.  
Other activities include the 2027 Dane Arts Calendar and Poster production  
and 50th Anniversary planning.  
H. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
1. Events Calendar  
Commissioners are encouraged to attend Dane Arts-supported events  
throughout the spring and sign up via the provided event spreadsheet.  
2. Next Meeting Date  
The next commission meeting is on Tuesday, May 19th at 8:30 a.m.

Existing commissioners and newly appointed commissioners Amy Mietzel,
