E. Reports to Committee
1. Diversity Work Group
KAUD reported that work has slowed in July. Still trying to meet with State
Representatives to help with recruitment. Vic Blankston now works fulltime and cannot
meet until after 5:30pm, which makes it more difficult to come together as a group.
OLSON asked about the recommendation to the AAA Board about moving this
workgroup to the Board oversight. That is on the agenda for Monday August 1, 2022.
2. Wisconsin Senior Advocates
Discussion of educating older adults on drop boxes and voting rule changes in general.
Questions about what else can groups do to advocate for education of voting.
3. ADRC Governing Board
OLSON reported that the meeting focused on transition disability services for child to
adult services. No aging topics were discussed.
4. County/State/Federal Legislative Update
Dane County Lobbyist Carrie Springer reported not much is going on in the state or
federal legislation. This is a down time now so minimal bills are trying to be passed on
the Federal level and then members will be heading off for campaign running.
5. State's Aging Advisory Council
OLSON reported they would be meeting in early August. The agenda is unknown yet but
voting will be the top topic of discussion.
6. Wisconsin Aging Advocacy Network
OLSON reported that core members would be having a retreat on August 10 in Fitchburg.
They will be meeting regarding the next years’ worth of planning.
7. Chair & Staff Reports
Chair OLSON advised she would not be here for the August meeting however, Vice Chair
MCHONE will run the meeting in OLSON’s absence.
AAA Manager Sridevi Mohan announced the AAA Aging Program Specialist Angela
Velasquez was promoted to the Disability and Aging Services Division Administrator.
MOHAN will be actively recruiting to fill the position once the details of the position are
finalized.
