The May 9, 2023 Public Protection & Judiciary meeting will be a hybrid meeting. Members of the public  
can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at City-County Building, Room 357.

PELLEBON, that the Resolution be recommended for approval. The motion

E. Discussion Item and Possible Action  
1. Legislative Agenda  
2021-2023 Legislative Agenda  
Springer presented. Supervisors Pellebon and Chair Andrae suggested further changes  
to the agenda, and Springer modified the language. The Committee agreed by  
unanimous consent to advance the proposed changes as discussed. Chair Andrae  
asked whether members could identify three issues to prioritize. Chair Andrae,  
Supervisor Pellebon, Supervisor Weigand, YGP Member Miller, YGP Member Rataj  
provided the following suggestions for prioritization: (1) the need for Victim Witness  
funding as a result of Marsy’s law, (2) Assistant District Attorney positions (3) State  
Public Defender pay; (4) increase funding for restorative funding initiatives; (5) racial  
disparities; (6) expungement; (7) human trafficking.  
Chair Andrae suggested the following as priorities: (1) support state funding for  
restorative justice programs; (2) increase funding to effectively implement Marsy’s Law  
and (3) improve pay rates for ADAs and SPDs; and (4) support creation of racial  
disparities subcommittee. The Committee agreed to Chair Andrae’s suggestions by  
unanimous consent.  
2. Stakeholder Engagement for County-wide Crisis Response Strategy  
Chair Andrae presented. Supervisor Pellebon updated the Committee on a grant that  
may assist stakeholders with developing a strategy. Chair Andrae proposed continuing  
the discussion at the next meeting.
