The June 6, 2023 Public Protection & Judiciary Committee meeting will be a hybrid meeting. Members of

F. Reports to Committee  
Criminal Justice Reform Initiative Subcommittee  
Supervisor Gray presented. Supervisor Gray discussed the subcommittee’s charge  
and informed members that two areas of focus arose: (1) community restorative court;  
(2) programs that reduce or prevent violence. Supervisor Eicher asked whether the  
programs could be combined, and Supervisor Gray explained the specific needs of both  
programs. Supervisor Weigand asked whether the CJRI discussed deliverables to  
demonstrate whether the programs had achieved predetermined goals, and Supervisor  
Gray confirmed that this was the case. Supervisor Weigand asked whether the CJRI  
also considered criminal justice programs that focused on the needs of law  
enforcement, and Supervisor Gray explained how the CJRI deliberated.  
G. Discussion Item  
Stakeholder Engagement for County-Wide Crisis Response Strategy  
Chair Andrae presented and explained that the joint meeting with HHN will have more  
information about the strategy.  
H. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
June 15, 2023 @ 6:30 p.m. before County Board Meeting – Late Referral  
June 22, 2023 @ 5:30 p.m. – Joint meeting with H&HN Committee; regular business  
after joint meeting if necessary.
