C. Discussion Items
2022 Data Overview - Anderson
Anderson presents 2022 EMS data and compares it to previous years. He also present
the Dane County EMS High-Performance CPR Summary.
CARES Expansion
Chief Stedman shares with the committee the various way the CARES program will be
expanding in 2023, including weekend coverage and new positions. There is interest from
several parties on whether this program can be implemented countywide. There is
agreement that most jurisdictions would not be able to individually support there own
programs; the parties involved in CARES agree that a centralized county-run program will
work best and they continue to look at ways for this to be implemented. Data overall for
the CARES program shows success in reducing the amount of transports for mental
health and wellness check patients, and a significant decrease in contact with law
enforcement for these individuals.
Marshall/Sun Prairie Consolidation
Marshall EMS was officially dissolved on January 1st and Sun Prairie EMS has taken
over their district. Meier and Kronenfeld recognize the dedication by former director Allain
and the Marshall EMS members that kept the agency staffed until its dissolution. Meier
will work with Supervisors McCarville and Doolan on creating a resolution to recognize
Marshall EMS and their members.
2023 Annual Report
Ideas for the 2023 Annual Report include: EMS Data; Expansion of Dane County mental
health response; increase in respiratory emergencies from 2022; HPCPR/hands-only
CPR training; suggestions for what jurisdictions can do regarding AED placement and
CPR training; future of the new Opiate Prevention Specialist position in DCEM.
