A motion was made by Levin, seconded by McCarville, that the minutes from  
August 2nd, 2023 be approved. The motion carried by a voice vote 10-0.

Updike announced that he will be stepping down as Vice Chair of the Commission and  
will not be seeking reappointment when his term ends in December of 2023.  
Commission members thanked UPDIKE for his service on the Lakes and Watershed  
Commission.  
Updike nominated McCarville for Chair. No other nominations. McCarville elected  
Chair by unanimous vote.  
McCarville nominated Levin for Vice Chair. No other nominations. Levin elected  
Vice Chair by unanimous vote.

1. 2024 Budget Updates  
MINKS reviewed the 2024 Lakes and Watershed Commission Budget Recommendation  
document (attached below) and provided an update on items being funded within the  
2024 Dane County Budget. See attached summary of Land & Water Resources  
Department 2024 Budget.

2. 2024 Work Planning  
Commission members reviewed previous presentation topics and discussed issues they  
would like to work on in 2024. Presentations on Milwaukee's Greenseams Program and  
Dane County's Carp Removal efforts were requested. Commission members were asked  
to send any topics they would like to discuss in the future to Kyle Minks.  
H. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
1. Next Lakes and Watershed Commission is December 6th starting 5:30 pm. This is a tentative joint  
meeting with EANR and LCC.  
2. 2024 preferred meeting dates and times  
Commission members suggested continuing to meet on the first Wednesday of the  
month starting at 5:30 pm at Fen Oak.  
I. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda  
Michael Farin provided public comment to the Commission thanking them for their work  
on the County Budget Process and support of PFAS testing of privet wells.

A motion was made by McCarville, seconded by Updike, that the meeting be  
adjourned. The motion carried unanimously.  
Meeting adjourned at 6:28 pm.
