B. Consideration of Minutes  
12.12.2022 MINUTES TREEBOARD

A motion was made by WYATT, seconded by NOONE, that the Minutes be  
approved. The motion carried by a voice vote 3-0.  
C. Discussion Items  
Board vacancies: next time move vacancies from discussion item to action item so a  
formal recommendation for Board membership can be made to forward Cory Rich and  
Craig Klinke to County Exec’s office  
Workplan review month by month workplan month. Missing members, so would like more  
input  
Arbor Day – joint event with Madison? Discussion of potential things that we can  
purchase to support a program. Klinke says they have 4th or 5th grade students. About  
50 kids. Tree cookie magnets with the Board branding iron logo? Johnson will check on  
what supplies we have on hand.

Budget spending: $4000 is available for 2023. Johnson will have a formal statement on  
agenda next month in action items. Board reviewed Heritage Oaks spending item from  
last year re State Cartography office; the Board would like to pursue this. NOONE will  
reconnect with the SCO.  
F. Reports to Committee  
1. Tree Canopy Collaborative: different sub-groups are pursuing different agendas. There  
are spring plantings planned for Sun Prairie, Fitchburg is interested and also Monona.  
The TCC has had input into the Truax Neighborhood development plan. Howard  
Landsman is working with Urban Tree Alliance (UTA) to partner on other projects. The  
Community Engagement subgroup has met once and will meet again to hone in on a  
community to hold a pilot project in with local organizations. The Rissman research  
project grant for community engagement and heat islands in four Wisconsin cities is  
going forward.  
2. Heritage Trees update: Noone and Weiss wrote article, Johnson is reviewing the article  
and will send it to members and Craig/Cory . Bought cart, buckets, hardware cloth, pots.  
NOONE volunteered to help find places to plant and store extra acorns and pots.  
3. Events work group is defunct at the moment until more members join the Board as  
both members departed.  
4. Outreach work group -- last meeting in October. WYATT suggested a call to action in  
the article re Heritage Oaks to get public to help locate and measure trees. WYATT said  
the group would strategize on working with WORT for free PSAs and shows, meeting  
2-28-23 to discuss. WOLX/WMMM PSAs went out for the winter.  
5. Policy work group met last year to review policies and make suggestions to County  
Environmental Council.  
G. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
for now, we are still allowed to do hybrid meetings. As long as someone is in a physical  
location to welcome in public and/or members at the Fen Oak location if people want to  
meet at physical site. Will have Fen Oak listed as site going forward. Having just staff is  
ok, members do not need to physically attend. Dates: Time 3:45-4:45 pm on February  
21, March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 17,  
November 21, December 19
