1904 BARTILLON SHELTER - TID REPORT
MEN'S SHELTER TRAUMA INFORMED DESIGN UPDATE
The 1904 Bartillon Men’s shelter design update and overview of the Trauma Informed
Design report prepared by Shopworks Architecture in partnership with Dimension IV
Madison Design Group, City of Madison and Dane County; an overview of the Common
Council action to date, the community engagement focus groups and a summary of
recommendations including lessons from other shelters; design and budget
considerations; tentative project schedule as well as future engagement sessions to be
scheduled in April. Members asked questions of the presenter and items were
discussed.
F. Action Items
1. BY TITLE ONLY: Repealing Sections 32.03 and 33.34 and amending Section
33.09(3) of the Madison General Ordinances to combine the City-County Homeless
Issues Committee, Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee, and Housing Strategy
Committee.
COMBINE COMMITTEES - DRAFT
Alder Yanette Figueroa-Cole presented a recommendation to consolidate the number of
City committees (The Housing Strategy Committee, Landlord and Tenant Issue
Committee and Housing Strategy Committee) to help increase community engagement.
An additional ask was made to determine what needs to be changed in the City and
County ordinances to make this recommendation possible. Members asked questions
of the presenter and had a discussion.
A motion was made by Linda Ketcham and seconded by Supervisor Michele
Doolan to approve to amend Section 33.09(3) of the Madison General
Ordinances to combine the City-County Homeless Issues Committee, Landlord
and Tenant Issues Committee, and Housing Strategy Committee. No vote
taken.
Amended motion was made by Alder Brian Benford and Supervisor Michele
Doolan to place this item on file without prejudice. Amended motion passed
7-2.
