Motion to approve minutes. Moved by Rev. BARING, second by PELLEBON.
C. Action Items
1. RESJ - PIE (2021 Reports and 2023 Application)
a. PIE Grant - Reports and Press Release
Discussion to look at 2021 PIE grant awardees' reports and identify the
positives in effort to declare highlights. Discussion on 100 Black Men funding
and their reports to be sent to OEI Advisory. Discussion on Culture
Connections, YWCA Restorative Justice, Simpson Street Press, and Rape
Crisis Center reports. Discussion to give feedback that members provide
regarding reports to staff, subsequently staff may bring back press release in
June that members can view and amend. Members to send to staff.
Discussion to highlight organizations accomplishments without listing the
name of the organization and adding some quotes.
b. 2023 Application (focus area?)
Discussion of press release for the upcoming PIE Grant and deadline.
Discussion of focusing on one or two areas or continue the process with
guidelines established already. Discussion to pick an area such as housing,
health, criminal justice, education, etc and asking OEI what priorities are to
help identify an alignment with PIE grant. Discussion to have conversation in
June to impact next year's application. Staff to notify OEI Advisory when 2023
PIE application is to be out.
2. Membership
a. Discussion of Board member terms and appointments
Discussion of new OEI Advisory members to be appointed by County
Executive, County Board Chair and others according to ordinance.
PELLEBON to follow-up with Chair. Staff to follow-up with County Executive.
3. Equity Plans - Department Presentations
Discussion ensued to invite departments on priority list to future OEI Advisory
meetings and discuss their equity plans. Discussion on equity plans on OEI
website and efforts in making them current. Discussion on previous
recommendations to Human Service plan. Discussion on what departments
should present on. Discussion on tracking LGBTQ in demographics.
Discussion to explore in prioritizing a way in recognizing and supporting all
identities.
