D. Action Items
1. Funding Challenges and Support Issues for High-Needs Students in Transition
Services
Thompson said he wants to compile data as to how many high school transition students
will be exiting from the Madison school district and what the Supported Employment
Coalition of Dane County is reporting for county wide students that are exiting.
Thompson feels there seems to more requiring 2 to 1 support. Local agencies are not
able to staff appropriately. They don't have the reimbursement rate to assign multiple
caretakers to one individual.
Every year the students transitioning to Long Term Care increases.
Decision was made to invite someone from the Supported Employment Providers
Coalition of Dane County to come and speak to the Board.
E. Chair's Report
None.
F. Board Member Reports
Esther Olson
1. SB1027/AB1088 - A Patient's Representative Bill
WAAN LETTER
Attachments:
2. Aging Advocacy Day - volunteers need at the Capitol
Aging Advocacy Day is May 15, 2024. Olson is looking for volunteers to help members
find their way around the Capitol.
G. Manager's Report
1. SAMS update
ADRC STATISTICS
2. ILSP update
Fischer said the State has extended the application deadline until the end of June and
have until the end of March 2025 to spend $7200. There are 552 cases assigned and
over 1000 people are on the wait list.
A full-time and LTE position will be advertised as there has been transition in staff.
Fischer feels ILSP has helped people with a lot of various issues.
3. ADRC Operations update
Fischer reported the ADRC continues to be busy. She reported that the I&A's are doing
referrals for our DBS program and some referrals will be sent to another agency.
Behavioral Health contracts with ERI. People are calling us who are already involved with
the Behavioral Health programs and need disability application help are being referred to
ERI. Hopefully this will help with the backlog the Benefit Specialists are experiencing.
Fischer reported the ADRC has two students from the University that are now having
client contact and helping with the initial application for disability and the ILSP program
applications.
H. Future Meeting Items and Dates
Next meeting: Monday, April 8, 2024 at the ADRC and via Zoom.
Madison Metro is scheduled to be the speaker.
Fischer will reach out to the Supported Employment Providers Coalition of Dane County
about presenting to the Governing Board in May.
