C. Action Items  
Miles makes motion, seconded by Agard, to direct staff to distribute Corp Counsel  
ethics training and track committee member compliance. Motion passes.  
Office of Justice Reform staff will send out the training. Committee members  
should let staff know when they have viewed the training. Committee members  
who have previously viewed the presentation should let staff know. County  
ordinance requires the training be completed by July 1.

Taylor made the recommendations described in the presentation slides.  
Public comments were made regarding:  
The effort the DA’s office puts into determining which candidates are  
appropriate for various diversion programs.  
The need to address the underlying cause for crime, and the importance of  
supporting the Community Court.  
The goals and activities of the Deferred Prosecution Program in the DA’s  
Office.  
Discussion ensued regarding:  
The potential for Community Courts at the municipal level in Dane County, in  
addition to at the county level.  
Full restitution is required by the defendant before successful completion of the  
Community Court.  
The difference between the Community Court as originally envisioned,  
compared to how it has been implemented.  
The importance of ensuring that victims have a voice in the process.  
The process by which retail theft became the initial focus for the Community  
Court.  
Additional information about the Community Court that can be found on the  
Office of Justice Reform website.  
Purchase of service contracts that are in development to provide services to  
Community Court participants.  
Outcomes for Community Court participants, which will be based on individual  
assessments and agreements
