B. Consideration of Minutes
October MAS Minutes
C. Discussion Items
Infection Control Book and Training
Meier reported that Dr. Lohmeier is finishing up the Infection control manual and would
like to pull partners together from all the hospitals to assure consistency and agreement.
Meier also shared that an updated Infection Control Powerpoint was developed with the
assistance of Madison Dane County Public Health and Dr. Gussick. This will be
recorded soon and distributed.
UW Physician Response Vehicle
The memo sent earlier this month by UW Health was discussed and discussion ensued.
The highlights of the discussion were that this should be considered another resource.
It does not replace Medflight or ALS. UW Health vehicle is now available 24 hours a day
7 days a week. The SSM vehicle has varying hours. Both can be requested thru the
Dane County 911 Center. They do not plan to show up at a scene unless requested. If
they happen to be driving by, they may stop and ask if help is needed but will always
check in first and not take over. They do not carry any medications or blood. They
have a procedure kit similar to medflight. No billing will be encured by the EMS Agency
or the patient. Meier will work on a newsletter for December to share more of this info.
First Responder Well Website - Fitchburg Fire
Chief Pulvemacher was present and discussed the work Fitchburg Fire is doing with the
first responder well program. The website can be shared with others
firstresponderwell.org.
Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest Transportation Destination Protocol Discussion
Meier reported that the UW/Meriter partnership is discussing the policy of sending any
OHCA patient that achieves ROSC in the field that has an initial rhythm that is
shockable to UW since they have cath lab capabilities 24/7. Meier shared her concern
that this messaging be handled to limit confusion with transport to SSM St. Mary's also
since they have 24/7 cath lab capabilities. After much discussion MAS felt that we
should wait to see the message crafted by UW Health and then work with our protocols
to assure understanding.
