OPERATING PRACTICES SUBCOMMITTEE JANUARY 2021 MINUTES

C. Discussion
Items
Active Threat Document Review
No concrete next steps with document, but Meier wanted it to get looked at again. Goal
after 2020 adoption was to have agencies train on it and do tabletop exercises. Would
like to hear where this stands within members' municipalities and how DCEMS office can
help facilitate training and getting this back on the forefront. The plan was to come back
a year later to see what changes may need to be made. Lang asks if there are any
training documents that would be created by the county that would help municipalities
facilitate training. Plan was to work with Joselyn to have them come in and help organize
the tabletop exercise "game", then decide if it was something we would purchase and
rotate around the county. Meier willing to start that conversation again to get this
resource. Under current county orders, could pull together a group of 40 in person for a
tabletop as long as there is no eating. Mount Horeb started planning last year to do a
training this summer; hoping that they still can, but not sure. Middleton planning on
applying for grants for exercises. Meier asks if it would be helpful to have a Zoom
session just to review basics on the document to refresh people’s memory of the
contents. Ziegler mentions Reunification Plan as those two documents go together.
Committee Make-Up and Priorities Update
The last EMS Commission meeting discussed committee makeup. Subcommittee
chairs, Meier, and Commission Chair Plotkin to meet and come up with a proposal. EMS
Commission does not meet until March. This subcommittee will continue to meet unless
told otherwise.
D. Presentations
E. Reports to Committee
F. Future Meeting Items and Dates
G. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda
H. Such Other Business as Allowed by Law
Meier shares that Anderson has thrown together a virtual base hospital training on Zoom
if anyone is interested in scheduling a training.
Wunsch asked about MCI kits and additional requests that were made. Meier will have
staff start ordering and putting together additional bags. Wunsch also asks for an update
on the replacement ambulance for R30. Last Meier heard was that the delivery will be in
May. Alliant Energy Center is working to find a contractor to sit in the parking lot rather
than having R30 staged there. Would like to get it back in service, but currently figuring
out a good replacement option. Until then, R30 will remain out of service.
I. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned at 3:36pm.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Courtney Wassertheurer.
