C. Discussion Items
MAS Objectives and Agenda
Meier shares the feeling that MAS holds value in getting the doctors from different
hospitals together for conversation. Would like to see meetings still held, but recognizes
a need for adjusting membership and readdressing subcommittee goals and mission.
Carbon asks about feasibility of having committee shifted to a meeting that is organized
by EMS Association or the Dane County EMS office rather than being a county
subcommittee under EMS Commission. Will bring this proposal back to corp counsel
and EMS Commission.
MAS Membership
Membership is large and subcommittee experiences difficulties meeting quorum every
meeting. Would like to slim down number of voting members, but want to know what
agencies should remain represented as members. Suggestion to move away from having
just member names listed and move to "representatives" of an agency to be more
flexible in meeting quorum. Meier confirms ordinance for subcommittee allows
representatives in place of a member. Decision was made to wait on making final
choices on membership until EMS Commission and Corp Council weigh in on how
meeting is structured.
Dane County EMS Update
Still waiting on lift for new R30. Meier collaborated to bring Active Shooter Incident
Management (ASIM) training to the county. Train the trainer session is available for 10
providers able to commit to training every year. Received over 20 interested requests, so
a survey went out to vet providers with training experience and time to train others.
DCEMS office is hosting two HPCPR sessions on November 2nd and are still taking
registrations for providers interested in participating. Protocol updates continue with a
goal of having final draft submitted to state for approval by November.
