A motion was made to approve distribution of the remaining Blockstein funds
totaling $3,295 by Commissioner Williams, seconded by Supervisor Chawla.The

4. Discuss Blockstein distribution timeline
3 – 5 top applicants of 14 total applicants will be presented to receive the remaining
$3,295 Blockstein funds
A motion was made to delay Blockstein fund allocation and distribution until the
November 2021 commission meeting by Supervisor Chawla, seconded by
Commissioner Cavazos. The motion was carried by the following voice vote:

5. Review and approve distribution of 2021 Cycle 2 Project awards
Grant review process:
- Panelists were recruited by Director Fraire
- Commission trusts the judgment of the review panelists, ratifies scores of panelists,
and approves fund allocation
- The current method of allocating award percentages based on review panel scores will
be examined, discussed and revised by Commissioner Curet, Commissioner Klehr, and
Vice-Chair Morgan for implementation in the allocation of future Dane Arts cycle awards
starting in 2022
2021 Cycle 2 Awards
- Director Fraire provided suggested award percentage allocations, to be adjusted and
approved of by the Commission
- Commissioners adjusted the award percentages in a distribution pattern they felt was
logical, equitable, and represented the decision of the grant review panelists
-- Award percentages ranged from 30% - 60% of grant requests, funding 43 organizations
-- The 6 lowest scoring applications did not receive funding
A motion was made to approve the Dane Arts 2021 Cycle 2 award distribution of
$94,985 by Commissioner Miquelon, seconded by Commissioner Williams. The
motion was carried by the following vote:
