- 2022 Budget items related to DCFC
The Dane County Executive’s 2022 budget was released Oct 1. The budget proposal
includes continued funding in the Extension budget for FairShare CSA Partner Shares,
Healthy Food For All, Pollinator program, Anderson Farm County Park, and carry-forward
funding for the Dane County Food Council and the Organic Conversion Pilot Program. It
also includes continued funding in the Office of Equity & Inclusion budget for PIE-Food
Project grants ($20K) and increased funding in the Department of Human Services
budget for the Double Dollars program (increased from $25K to $37.5K, which matches
the City of Madison contribution). There will be a public hearing on the budget on Oct 20
(6pm); next, the Personnel & Finance Committee prepares recommendations between
Oct 25-Nov 3; and the final county board budget deliberations start Nov 8 (concluding
either Nov 8, 10, or 11).
- 2022 PIE Food Project grant review committee
Volunteers are needed to help revise the PIE grant process & review applications in
February/March. The Food Access, Relief, & Economic Support (FARES) work team is
developing recommendations to put forth for SEED and PIE grants. There was a
discussion around requirements needed for reviewers and considerations for increasing
equity. A suggestion was made to build in time throughout the year to discuss and revise
the PIE grant process.
- DCFC and DCFC-MFPC joint meetings format
There was a discussion around changing to having joint meetings every other month. On
the months without joint meetings, DCFC can meet on the 2nd Wednesdays as long as
that plan works for DCFC members. Communication will be sent out regarding the
November meeting date.
- DCFC Strategic Plan
The draft Strategic Plan will be shared over email to be discussed at the November
meeting.
- Equity check-in
The November meeting will include a conversation with staff from the Office of Equity and
