B. Consideration of Minutes
MEDICAL ADVISORY SUBCOMMITTEE OCTOBER 2021 MINUTES
Attachments: October Minutes
The minutes were approved.
C. Discussion Items
RFP for Medical Advisors
Starting in 2022, Dane County EMS will move from a contract for a single Medical
Director to 3 Medical Advisors. The RFP will go to bid in early December. The hope is to
get medical advisors that represent three different hospitals. Instead of an hourly pay,
each advisor will get a lump sum payment each year. This will be effective at the
beginning of 2022.
Infection Control Handbook Covid Addition
Committee discussed adding a new page to the Infection Control Handbook for Covid-19.
The concern was that new developments are still being made regarding the virus and that
the information may become outdated quickly. Lohmeier confirms there is a disclaimer in
the book that says new information regarding infectious diseases is constantly changing
and to refer to local Public Health guidelines for the most up to date information. It was
agreed that updating the Infection Control Handbook at the same time as the protocols
would be pertinent.
PulsePoint Update
The Cardiac Arrest Summit awarded Dr. Mancera, Dr. Kronenfeld, and Eric Anderson the
40 Under 40 Award for outstanding work in cardiac arrest survival. Dane County EMS and
the PulsePoint group agreed to send them and up to two others to the Cardiac Arrest
Summit in December using PulsePoint funds.
HPCPR Training
Dane County EMS and MEP hosted a high performance CPR Train the Trainer session
on November 2nd that had a small group of members from across the county in
attendance. The training program was adapted to fit in a 4 hour training session rather
than an 8-hour all day timeline. These trainings will continue to be offered going forward,
and training resources are available from the DCEMS office for agencies to use.
Dane County EMS Office Update
The new EM Specialist position is in the process of being hired. They will take on some
of Carrie Meier's old duties related to EMS, specifically managing PulsePoint and public
outreach. The new R30 has gotten the lift and should be on it's way to Wisconsin soon.
