The September 13, 2022 Public Protection & Judiciary meeting will be a hybrid meeting. Members of the  
public can either attend in person or virtually via Zoom.  
The public can attend in person at the City County Building, Room 357.

1. Current status of staffing at the Dane County Sheriff's Office and associated  
mitigation.  
Barrett presented on vacancies and mitigation efforts. Chair Andrae questioned Barrett  
on staff numbers, mitigation efforts and jail closures.  
2. Results of Gift Cards for Guns event.  
Barrett presented. Chair Andrae questioned Barrett about the potential of additional  
events, the number of weapons obtained, and the anonymity of the weapon owners.  
G. Discussion Items  
Considering Implementation of Criminal Justice Initiatives cited in recent resolutions.  
Chair Andrae presented. Chair Andrae asked committee members whether there are  
specific initiatives that members would like to learn more about during the CJC Quarterly  
Reports. Supervisor Pellebon noted that data collection is missing and questioned  
whether asking for more information would be effective. Supervisor Kigeya and  
Supervisor Gray questioned the efficacy of recent resolutions.
