A. Call To Order  
Call to order at 5:15 p.m.

B. Consideration of Minutes  
Approve May commission minutes for recommendation to full commission

A motion was made by Commissioner Miquelon to approve the minutes from the  
05/18/2022 Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission meeting, seconded by Vice Chair  
Morgan.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice vote.  
C. Action Items  
1. Election of Chair  
- Vice Chair Morgan conducted the nomination and election process of the Commission  
Chair  
- Vice Chair Morgan invited nominations for Commission Chair  
- Roderick Ritcherson was nominated by Commissioner Cavazos, and accepted the  
nomination  
A motion was made by Commissioner Miquelon to elect Roderick Ritcherson as  
Chair of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission by acclamation, seconded by  
Commissioner Cavazos.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice vote.  
2. Election of Vice Chair  
- Chair Ritcherson conducted the nomination and election process of Commission Vice  
Chair  
- Mary Klehr was nominated by Commissioner Miquelon, and accepted the nomination  
A motion was made by Commissioner Miquelon to elect Mary Klehr as Vice Chair  
of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission by acclamation, seconded by  
Commissioner Cavazos.  
The motion was carried unanimously by a voice vote.  
D. Commission Vacancies/Prospects  
1. Current/pending  
- Laura Gallagher and Jennifer Garret recommendations as prospective commissioners  
are advancing through the appointment process  
- The incoming County Supervisor is Olivia Xistris-Songpanya  
- Supervisor Chawla plans to meet up with Supervisor Xistris-Songpanya to review  
Commission duties. Chair Ritcherson and Executive Director Fraire will also provide an  
orientation  
2. June elections  
- It is expected that the incoming County Supervisor will serve as the Commission  
Parliamentarian and Executive Committee Member, though it is not necessary that they  
are elected  
E. Chair/Executive Committee Report  
1. June Discussion Topics  
1. Exiting Commissioners  
- Chair Ritcherson thanked Vice Chair Morgan for ten years of service to the Commission  
with a focus on grant distribution and chairing of grant review panels  
- Chair Ritcherson thanked Commissioner Cavazos for her term of service on the  
Commission with a focus on Fund Advisory  
- Chair Ritcherson thanked Supervisor Chawla for serving two terms on Commission as  
Parliamentarian with a focus on Blockstein funds and management of the distribution of  
those funds  
- The three exiting Commissioners will transition from the Commission to the new  
informal “Dane Arts Advisory Committee.” Each outgoing commissioner received a  
thankyou plaque as a token of appreciation for their service on the commission.  
2. Future Grant Cycles  
- 2022 Cycle 2 grant applications are due August 1  
- A group of veteran grant reviewers met last month to review/revise the existing  
application questions. Any revisions to the Dane Arts grant application will not be  
implemented until the first cycle of 2023.  
3. Future Meeting Format  
- Future Commission meetings will continue to take place via Zoom unless  
Commissioners desire otherwise  
- Hybrid meetings are an option. Director Fraire will receive updates on County regulations  
for meetings.  
4. Additional June discussion topics be tabled until the August Commission meeting.  
Commissioners will be sent discussion topics in advance.  
2. Increasing Commissioner engagement in Dane Arts supported events  
- Commissioner Klehr will be discussing Commissioner engagement with Cultural Affairs  
Specialist Brulla with a goal of engaging the commissioners at Dane Arts supported  
events  
- Commissioner Puleo Moyer sent a Google doc with a list of Dane Arts supported events  
that will be shared with the full Commission  
F. Areas of Focus Reports  
- Commissioner Puleo Moyer has a list of individual prospects to consider for the Dane  
Arts Commission vacant positions and has been in communication with several potential  
candidates  
- Commissioner Miquelon would like to shift her area of focus to supporting distribution of  
the AEP 6 survey  
G. Executive Director Report  
- AEP 6  
- The Arts and Economic Prosperity survey version 6 (AEP 6) will be collected from Dane  
County non-profit arts and culture events from May 2022 to April 2023  
- There is an additional BIPOC survey for events that are organized by and serve  
primarily communities of color  
- An AEP 6 info session will take place Friday June 17th at 9 a.m.  
- Commissioner Miquelon expressed her support and the importance of the survey with an  
example of how data from AEP V was instrumental her Baldwin Grant proposal which  
resulted in earning an award of $150,000  
H. Future Meeting Items and Dates  
1. June/July Dane Arts supported activities  
- The Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission will not meet in July and will resume in  
August  
2. Discuss Commissioner Miquelon hosting September 21st Commission meeting at the Rumpus Room in  
Mazomanie  
- All Commissioners are invited if County regulations allow  
- A decision will be made at the August Commission meeting
