B. Consideration of Minutes  
Minutes from April 4, 2022  
A motion was made by Farsetta, seconded by BUNCK, that the Minutes be  
approved. The motion carried by voice vote:

1. Board Officer Elections  
Chair Ratcliff stated she wouldn’t mind staying on as Chair for the AAA Board.  
MCGINNITY nominated RATCLIFF as Chair. RATCLIFF asked two more times if any  
other nominations. No other nominations. RATCLIFF appointed Chair of AAA Board with  
unanimous voice vote.  
Chair Ratcliff asked for nominations for Vice Chair. MCGINNITY nominated FARSETTA  
as Vice Chair. RATCLIFF asked two more times if any other nominations. No other  
nominations. FARSETTA appointed Vice Chair of AAA Board with unanimous voice  
vote.  
Chair Ratcliff asked for nominations for Secretary. RATCLIFF nominated MCGINNITY  
as Secretary. RATCLIFF asked two more times if any other nominations. No other  
nominations. MCGINNITY appointed Secretary of AAA Board with unanimous voice vote.  
2. 2022 Leck Grant Applications  
2022 Leck Grant Applications  
AAA Manager Sridevi Mohan presented the recommendation of approval for 2022 Leck  
Grant applicants to Board members. Four out of eight applicants were awarded funding  
from the grant program.  
A motion was made by RUTKOWSKI, seconded by Farsetta, to approve the  
recommendations provided as the grant participants. The motion carried by  
the following vote:

3. 2022 Mally Grant Applications  
Mally Education Fund Grant

Mohan presented the recommendation of approval for 2022 Leck Grant applicants to  
Board members. DeForest Senior Center was awarded funding from the grant program.  
A motion was made by RUTKOWSKI, seconded by ANDRAE, to approve the  
recommendations provided as the grant participants. The motion carried by  
the following vote:

4. Appointment of new AAA Nutrition/Wellness Committee member.  
Linda Fuller, Retired RN.  
Linda Fuller, retired RN from the Oregon area is interested in serving on the AAA  
Nutrition/Welllness Committee.  
A motion was made by MCGINNITY, seconded by RUTKOWSKI, to approve  
appointment of Linda Fuller to the AAA Nutrition/Wellness Committee. The  
motion carried by the following vote:

D. Presentations

E. Reports to Board  
1. State and Federal Report  
Megan Takahashi of the WI Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources (BADR) reported  
that they will be taking over the Life Span Respite Grant funding. State’s Aging plan is  
out for everyone to read and give feedback by May 31. ACL and Community Living  
survey is currently being done. Will be looking at the Older Americans Act (OAA)  
guidelines and how to fund the high needs of nutrition across the state. Hiring a  
Volunteer Coordinator who will help with State Health Insurance volunteers.  
Eighteen-month position with the hopes of making this a permanent position.  
FARSETTA asked how the Volunteer Campaign went that the state did but the results  
were not known at this time. Dane County did not receive any additional volunteers as  
their results.  
2. Board Member Reports  
Chair Ratcliff summarized the minutes for the meetings. Many were canceled due to  
lack of quorum while new County Supervisors are appointed to the Committees.

b. AAA Legislative/Advocacy Committee

Next meeting: Wednesday May 25, 2022 at 9 am via Zoom.  
c. AAA Nutrition/Wellness Committee  
AAA Aging Specialist Angela Velasquez stated that a new meal site for the East side of  
Madison opened. Monona Senior Center will be open on Friday’s and have been  
averaging 30 people there for meals. MCGINNITY asked if other meal sites had older  
adults who were feeling pressured to come back to the centers to get food. Some are  
still hesitant being in a crowd with COVID still being active. VELASQUEZ noted that  
some meal sites are still offering carryout options but it is up to each site. Once the  
Federal government lifts the health crisis we could be instructed that carryout options are  
no longer available at all.

3. Diversity Work Group Update  
Nothing to report this month.  
4. Age Discrimination Discussion Update  
Chair Ratcliff and MOHAN need to meet more concerning this topic.  
5. Regional Housing Strategy Update  
RUTKOWSKI was unable to make the May meeting but did find out the membership of  
the group. Many different contacts that she has worked with over the years. Next  
meeting planned for September 2022.

1. How will meetings proceed going forward? Virtual/In person?  
Short discussion on how meetings will be going forward. Everyone would like to stay  
virtual as long as possible.

VELASQUEZ talked about how important this tool is in the work that AAA is doing and  
implementing.

last year.
