C. Discussion Items
1. Grant options: None were brought up by Board members for review.
2. Potential projects that require budget money: PSAs, Dane County Heritage Oaks
project potentially, Friends of Forest awards, fall tree planting projects.
a. Discussion ensued re supporting the DC Heritage Oaks project being spearheaded
by Howard Veregin, state cartographer. It was brought up that for the Board to
participate, we need an overall plan and desired outcome. It was not decided which work
group the project would be housed in should support go forward. Potential support
activities might include developing a PSA on the project and sending people to a contact
or site for more info if they are willing to have trees on their property measured, or they
want to participate in tree measurement activities on public or private lands. It could also
be advertised on the TB website.
b. This will be a discussion item on the agenda for June. NOONE will speak to
Howard Veregin, state cartographer about how we can support.
c. RITT will connect with ALVES re fall tree planting projects or replacing trees. She
will also review with him the approved County Board budget money re staff for tree
planting.

E. Reports to Committee
1. Tree Canopy Work Group: Thriving Earth Exchange project proposal got a community
science fellow assigned to figure out how to ID and address canopy loss with an equity
lens, to refine any projects and how to survey public re identifying barriers to increasing

different strategies states have done that were effective. Dane County Office of Energy
